Our Community Supported Agriculture Program
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) started in the early 1980's in New England as a means of connecting communities with their local farmers. Members pay up-front to provide the farmer with much-needed capital at the beginning of the season. The concept of “community support” also guarantees farmers an outlet for their products. In exchange, members get fresh, local, produce and personal connection to the people growing their food.
In an era of dwindling family farms, CSAs are enabling many small-scale operations throughout the country to maintain economic viability. For us, the CSA is a stable, consistent income that takes some of the gambling out of farming.
The CSA model is very important to our small family farm's success. The membership fees we collect at the beginning of the season allow us to purchase essential supplies such as seed, organic fertilizers, and fuel to heat our greenhouses. Memberships are available at a variety of dollar amounts, and this credit allows each customer to buy what they want, when they want it, throughout the one year membership. CSA members will also have convenient pre-ordering privileges available through our website. You can pay for a CSA membership via PayPal or credit card on the site, or contact us directly for additional payment options.
Our family is very excited about the upcoming growing season. We just completed construction of a 1,800 square foot greenhouse where we will grow lettuces, kale, spinach and other salad greens in a controlled environment, allowing us to provide you with greens year round.
Our blueberry crop will be in its fifth growing season and should produce an abundance of berries this spring and summer. Our raspberries and blackberries should be even more plentiful than last year.
Five high tunnels will allow us to grow tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, sugar snap peas, new potatoes, green onions, shallots, leeks, peppers, squash, zucchini, celery, herbs, cabbages, a variety of greens, and much more. We will devote one tunnel exclusively to flowers. Saundra's fresh cut bouquets have become a main stay in the community and we will offer many varieties this year including Lisianthus, Sunflowers, Snap Dragons, Gladiolas and many more!
We hope you will consider joining our family farm CSA . We guarantee your family the freshest, tastiest, most nutritious fruits and vegetables, and beautiful flowers throughout your CSA membership. If at any time you are unhappy with your membership and we can't resolve your issue, we will refund your remaining balance. Additional information and testimonials can be found on our website.
